I’m a huge supporter of gay rights; my sister is bisexual, I have known many bisexual and gay people, and it is abundantly clear that they deserve all of the same rights that heterosexuals enjoy, including state recognition of their union. Iowa’s supreme court legalized gay marriage in a ruling last week. The two other states that have done it are Massachusetts and Connecticut. You know the vaunted liberalism of California has to be reconsidered when it legalizes gay marriage and, afterward, fails to keep it intact. However much Mormon-funded propaganda is to blame, it still happened, and it is still a failure of civil rights. Senator McKinley of Iowa attempted to get a bill co-sponsored that would reverse the ruling of the supreme court. After some anecdotal speech, Senator Majority Leader Mike Gronstal flatly refused to co-sponsor the bill.
